Review Of High-Capacity Battery Systems For Onboard War Ships In The Era Of Artificial Intelligence
Abstract
Battery technologies have ever been developing
rapidly in the era of Artificial Intelligence for the marine
transportation industry aiming for more greener energy for
propulsion. Meanwhile the war ships also transforming
from traditional propulsion to modern hybrid or pure
electric propulsion, the potential for propulsion in battery
electric and combination of batteries with a diesel powered
& steam powered engine in a hybrid system will be used in
modern ships. The battery technologies are developing
rapidly to cater the future potential maritime propulsion
applications. The propulsion & auxiliary systems onboard
ship required to support the batteries with the technical
characteristics of their weight, volume, and cost of a
maritime battery systems. The energy demands &
consumption pattern of military vessels for specific
operations are considered while selecting the best energy
production & storage facilities. The energy demands could
be catered either by pure battery or by hybrid methods for
propulsion & auxiliary requirements. The amount of load
required to move in different environment conditions also
considered while selecting the energy storage. This
technical paper gives an insight overview of the available
battery technologies and future developments in the
industry that may potentially available for the future usage
for propulsion & auxiliaries for future ship’s in the era of
Artificial intelligence.
