The continued growth of technological advancements and improved Internet comprehension has converted the nature of day-to-day customer activities, and most offline operations have moved to online operations. In this context, electronic-commerce transactions in Sri Lanka are expected to continue to grow in the near future. The aim of the study is to investigate the factors affecting young consumers’ online purchase intention in Sri Lanka. The study will consider online purchase intention of young consumers with special reference to undergraduates of KDU in Sri Lanka. The research is based on Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Perceived Risk Theory and the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) which are commonly used theories in the research field of online purchase intention. The research explores how the perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, perceived risk, subjective norms and attitude towards the behaviour affect the online purchase intention of young consumers. In terms of research methodology, this study follows the quantitative approach, and the necessary data for the execution of the study were gathered through questionnaires distributed around 400 young consumers in KDU. Further, the study employed regression analysis. The researchers found that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, perceived risk, subjective norms and attitudes towards behaviour have significant influence with positive effect on online purchase intention of young consumers in Sri Lanka.

<title>An Examination of the Social Level Predictors of Cyberbullying Victimisation</title>
<link>https://ir.kdu.ac.lk/handle/345/3055</link>
<description>An Examination of the Social Level Predictors of Cyberbullying Victimisation
Munasinghe, MAPM; Harasgama, KS
With the increasing use of&#13;
information &amp; communication&#13;
technologies, and the popularity of various&#13;
social media applications, incidents of&#13;
cyberbullying have also increased. A&#13;
number of studies have been conducted in&#13;
the recent years to investigate how various&#13;
social factors influence one’s vulnerability&#13;
to cyberbullying. This paper reviews the&#13;
existing literature and develops a&#13;
conceptual framework on critical social&#13;
factors predicting cyberbullying&#13;
victimization. Such a framework would be&#13;
immensely useful for governments and&#13;
policymakers as it gives a comprehensive&#13;
view and understanding of the critical&#13;
predictors of cyberbullying. Such an&#13;
understanding is important for devising a&#13;
holistic approach to addressing&#13;
cyberbullying through potential victim&#13;
empowerment and placement of early&#13;
preventive measures. The conceptual&#13;
framework developed in this paper&#13;
identifies family background, school&#13;
climate and peer relationships as critical&#13;
social factors for cyberbullying&#13;
victimization.

<title>Public Intention towards Mobile Money Transactions in Sri Lanka</title>
<link>https://ir.kdu.ac.lk/handle/345/3054</link>
<description>Public Intention towards Mobile Money Transactions in Sri Lanka
Subasinghe, SAKEP; Mirihagalla, SD; Welivitage, T; Gunathilake, Lahiru
Mobile Money Transaction&#13;
(MMT) is an innovative technology, which&#13;
is freshly introduced by several business&#13;
entities in Sri Lanka. Though this service is&#13;
useful and relatively easy, an initial study&#13;
revealed that it is not popular among the&#13;
community as an e-banking service. With&#13;
this background, the study was conducted&#13;
to detect the factors affecting public&#13;
intention towards MMT in Sri Lanka and to&#13;
recognise the most influencing factor on&#13;
public intention towards MMT. With the&#13;
theoretical support of Technology&#13;
Acceptance Model (TAM) and Theory of&#13;
Reasoned Action (TRA), five independent&#13;
variables were developed namely,&#13;
awareness, perceived usefulness,&#13;
perceived ease of use, perceived risk and&#13;
perceived trust, while public intention was&#13;
identified as the dependent variable. The&#13;
survey questionnaire was developed after a&#13;
pilot testing with 18 undergraduates and&#13;
170 responses were collected through a&#13;
web-based questionnaire. The collected&#13;
data were analysed with the use of SPSS&#13;
software, and all the data preparation&#13;
techniques such as normality, linearity,&#13;
validity, reliability and multi-collinearity&#13;
were conducted. According to the multiple&#13;
regression analysis, it was revealed that&#13;
Perceived Ease of Use and Awareness have&#13;
no impact on dependent variable, whereas&#13;
all the other three independent variables&#13;
showed a significant impact. Also, the&#13;
perceived risk was identified as the critical&#13;
factor on consumer intention towards&#13;
MMT. As implications of the study, mobile&#13;
service providers need to take measures to&#13;
minimise the associated risk of MMT in&#13;
order to make MMT more popular among&#13;
people.

<title>Language Practices in Bilingual Mathematical Classrooms: The Role of Linguistic Diversity</title>
<link>https://ir.kdu.ac.lk/handle/345/3052</link>
<description>Language Practices in Bilingual Mathematical Classrooms: The Role of Linguistic Diversity
Dharmawardene, RP
The aim of this study was to&#13;
explore how Sri Lankan bilingual students&#13;
in public sector middle schools use their&#13;
two languages – Sinhalese and English – to&#13;
support learning of Mathematics in small&#13;
groups with their counterparts who use&#13;
Sinhalese only. The sample consisted of&#13;
randomly selected 45 bilinguals and 45&#13;
monolinguals from three public schools in&#13;
Colombo in Sri Lanka. The average age of&#13;
the sample was 12 to 14 years. Over a twomonth period, 8 forty-minute lessons from&#13;
bilingual mathematics classrooms were&#13;
video-recorded and later transcribed for&#13;
analysis. In the presentation of findings,&#13;
three practices in the language usage which&#13;
emerged are discussed, i.e. (1) using&#13;
academic vocabulary, (2) invention of new&#13;
terms, (3) word-for-word translation. In&#13;
the study, one example was chosen to&#13;
represent each practice with some of its&#13;
situated effects. In the discussion, the first&#13;
two examples contribute to the idea that&#13;
the students’ experience of language&#13;
difficulties, whether real or presumed,&#13;
contributes to creating opportunities that&#13;
can be beneficial to learning mathematics.&#13;
The third example, which focuses on&#13;
learning mathematics in the medium of&#13;
English points to some contrasting&#13;
findings. Unlike many other studies found&#13;
in this field, locally or internationally,&#13;
which report difficulties and obstacles that&#13;
arise in learning and teaching due to&#13;
bilingualism in middle school classrooms, a&#13;
change of focus via the conceptualization of&#13;
language in the form of thinking and doing&#13;
is emphasized in this study especially for&#13;
learning and teaching mathematics in the&#13;
context of bilingual classrooms in Sri&#13;
Lankan public schools.
